Damn, I'm annoying

Porgie's new eating adventures have been fun. And by fun, I mean completely fucking annoying. Until Yesterday, Porgie was refusing 90% of the meals I prepared for her. Then, I realized that she always seemed to gobble up the macaroni noodles with pasta sauce. So, being the genius that I am, I started pouring spaghetti sauce on everything. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

I am not a very laid back person. In fact, I am quite neurotic. So, when Porgie doesn't eat, I have images of her starving to death because of one skipped meals. In case you are wondering, this is why I can't seem to write about anything else lately. I am going to try to stop babbling on and on about Porgie's eating habits - I promise.

But before I abandon my endless whining, here are a few pictures of my baby trying to eat.

She liked the peas, but not the garden burger.

Bananas are yummy, but slippery.

Black beans are just disgusting.

Pasta sauce is the bomb.

Please excuse the naked highchair. The cover was in the wash.

What a cutie! I love the bib.

Well, I'm sure you too will come to a detante on this eventually. You can't make her eat (just like you can't make them nurse!). She'll get enough, I promise! Just try more variety? Or Cheese sauce? Maybe she would like milk gravy? You could even make it with formula! (ick)

I just made a delightful barley/kale/carrot soup out of organic ingredients that my baby LOVED. Maybe try stuff like that?

May you could Ask Moxie it.

Porgie's love of pasta sauce rivals K's love for cheese. He'll eat anything with cheese on it.

Eva,
I can't make her a soup because she won't eat off of a spoon. She won't even take a noodle from my hand. SHE HAS TO FEED HERSELF. The little pain in the ass.

Suz,
Porgie doesn't eat all the food I put on her tray. Most of it gets flung on the floor. My dogs LOVe Porgie now.

I can't remember if I said this or not, so forgive me if I am repeating myself. My doctor said that for the first 12 months, eating solids is a SKILL and all the baby's nutrition should come from breastmilk and/or formula. This helped me breathe so much easier. Then, I saved all my stressing out for AFTER the 12 months mark.

You are not alone - I think it is a requirement that all mothers must obsess over what their kid eats. It's to the point where my husband has joined the Game and starts off many a conversation with "how did he eat?". Fortunately, our kid is not picky, but I worry about the volume. Another game entirely.

Hang in there! It gets better and you do have to let go a little bit or you will drive yourself insane.

That must be so frustrating but she sure looks healthy and happy!! I had the opposite problem and Aiden was always over the 100% for weight and loved to eat a lot. He has leveled out and now eats lots somedays and not so much other days. Right now he has the flu and hasnt had a bite to eat in 4 days........at least he is taking fluids now. Keep offering and eventually she should eat. It looks like you are being creative with what you offer! Good for you!

porgie is such a doll! ok i asked my friends d. and d. for some vegetarian baby food ideas since they are both vegans and are raising their daughter vegan as well. just so you know, theire daughter was a VERY picky eater, but this is what worked for her: have you tried tofu cubes w/her yet? yes, you can even put pasta sauce over them to help w/ the taste. :) they also suggested very WELL steamed heads of asparagus (just the tippie tops), chunks of really soft mango, twice baked potatoes or sweet potatoes (i have a good recipe if you need it) and brown rice pudding (i also have a good recipe for that). they also suggested a book called "super baby food" by ruth yaron.

i hope this helps you!!!!

Maybe you could enthusiastically eat something and then casually drop some of it on her tray. Sometimes that works on Baby E. Sometimes.

Baby E is pretty much a default vegetarian. I am not myself, Dh is an avid meat-eater, but Baby E doesn't care for it, so eats lots of fruits, grains, some veggies, and adores cheese.
