Hmmmm?

I don't really understand the appeal of social networking sites, such as myspace and facebook. I don't really give a shit about people from my past, and I certainly don't want to talk to them now. But my husband? He has become obsessed with facebook. He doesn't actually like communicating with anyone. No, he just likes to lurk around, stalking his high school friends. Weirdo.

I guess he got bored with researching people from his past, because this morning he sent me a link to my high school boyfriend's facebook page. Why is my husband researching my old lovers? I found the whole thing to be a little creepy.

So tell me, what is the appeal? Why is it so addicting? Because personally, it doesn't even sound interesting to me.

Yeah, I don't really get it either. Sometimes my cousin or someone says something interesting or funny, and I like it for knowing what some people are up to without having to bother talking to them, but mostly I can't figure out how people spend a lot of time on it.

I'm no where near any of my friends, or what few are here I never see... I'd go nuts w/ out it.

I used to think that, but I'm addicted. It's fun, it's a time killer. Thoughtless time killer.

I don't care much about Facebook, though I'm on there, however Twitter makes me giggle with glee. Then again, I only keep up with current friends on twitter, none of whom live near me.... so maybe that's why. It's like my only real-time connection to them!

What bothers me is the fact that people update all the crap they are doing even the most insignificant thing.

I'm a facebook addict.. Only because I love seeing how all the old cheerleaders are now fat and on their third marriage! Loves it!

a) i would only be on facebook to be mean. and snarky. i only want to see people fatter than me. and have ugly kids.

b) if i don't talk to them now and they aren't in my life - then what kind of friends were we anyways?

c) i believe (for some people) it's like a gateway drug to cheating.

d) but clearly i have issues.

Sorry, I love Facebook. I play the goofy games like Mafia Wars, Fashion Wars, Farm Town... lol

I like seeing what old friends are up to, how fat some people have gotten, how many marriages they've had, etc. But some I genuinely miss and have loved reconnecting with.

Gah! I love love love myspace and facebook! I guess it boils down to the fact that I am an extremely nosy person and I love to know what people have going on in their life! I enjoy going on their daily and updating my status and seeing everybody else's updates! I've even gone as far as to search Asa's ex girlfriend who we was starting to fool around with who is still married! I check her updates because... I have no idea why I just feel the need to! So yeah myspace/facebook are an addiction to me!

I love FB. I love seeing people I haven't seen in years and catching up. I've made a lot of new connections that way and have in a weird way created new friendships. I also get to keep up on family and friends that have moved away. It's an easy way to see what they are up to, talk and to see updated pics of their kids, etc. I LOVE IT!!
