Baby blues

Poor little Porgie's life is going to be turned upside down in a mere five months. Life as she knows it will be forever changed. Even though she is about to go through a major life change, I am actually contemplating causing even more turmoil.

I want to switch Porgie to another bedroom. She is currently in the room right next to our bedroom, so we share a wall. My fear is that the new baby will wake her up at night crying (I plan on using a bassinet - or co sleeping- for the first 3 or 4 months). So, I want to move Porgie to the room at the end of the hallway.

I plan on buying Porgie a new crib and bedding. Her new bedroom is already blue, so I have been looking for a gender neutral bedding option that incorporate the same blue color. I found this bedding set (which also happens to be on sale $$$), but I am not that fond of the theme. My instincts tell me to buy another animal theme, but I can't have two nurseries that look actually the same.

I am also terrified about actually making the room switch. As you know, my baby isn't the best sleeper. I am scared shitless that moving her room will cause even more night waking. I can't handle that. SERIOUSLY.

Hmmm...I'm wondering....could you keep the crib and the bedding the same? That might be more disorienting than changing the room. You might want to introduce her to it gradually by letting her play in the finished room and get used to it before sleeping there.

Anyway...assvice, but I hope that something works!

I don't know, that's a tough one. You never know, maybe she'll take right to it. Or she could entirely flip out. See how helpful I am?

Wait to find a bedding theme you adore. There are so many to choose from! Of course I have no bedding theme. My mother made the bedskirt and the curtains, and I just got neutral matching solid sheets. We don't have a bumper.

Maybe you could sew something, too? Then you could get exactly what you want!

Or you could keep Porgie's stuff the same, but get new stuff after/if you find out the sex of the baby and actually move it to the nursery?

i think you should make the move now,....that is what we are doing with brandon. you might keep her bedding the same and get the new baby something, but you can also make this all about being a big girl. we put brandon in a toddler bed, but you should also look into getting one of those cribs that converts for when shes ready to be big.

you know what else you can do that i started doing with brandon which ends up being soooo cheap. I went to the separates isle of babies r us. You can get like A blue gingham sheet and bumper, with maybe a pink sheet and a purple one, and then a yellow or green bed skirt and then just some simple plain color blankets, or even really girly blankets that match each piece. I love doing separates now, brandon has star sheets and sports sheets and OMG the Elmo sheets, plus usually in the back of babies r us they have a super clearance section of separates. the cool part of doing this is i was able to buy flannel sheets for winter and not have to worry about losing the theme. you can even browse separates online at babiesrus.com and play with colors there.
