A week of firsts

This week was filled with many new milestones for my Izzy Whizzy Woo. My little guy is learning lots of new stuff. Although I know that he is getting bigger and smarter, I am still shocked when he acquires a new skill. Did you know that Izzy is already 7 months old? Amazing!

Izzy's last stool sample test came back completely normal. Yay! I was super duper excited, but I am not really sure what this means for my diet. So until Izzy goes to his next appointment with the GI doctor, I am going to continue with my elimination diet. If the doctor gives me permission to add dairy back into my diet, I am heading straight to Baskin Robins for a strawberry milkshake. Mmmmm...milkshake.

Izzy learned how to clap his hands this week. So adorable. I wasn't expecting this milestone, because Porgie was almost 1 year old before she started clapping. But he claps and smiles proudly. He also started saying, "ma ma ma ma ma." Also adorable.

And because I am trying to win the Worst Mother of the Year Award, Izzy rolled off of the changing table. Very sad. It all happened in the blink of an eye. I had changed his diaper and placed it in the diaper champ. I tried to turn the top over, but there were too many diapers inside. So I leaned to the side to push the diapers down so I could squeeze in one more, and Izzy landed on the floor. Thankfully, he took it like a champ and only cried for about 30 seconds. That helped to ease the mommy guilt.

Ohhh, NOOOO! Not an elimination diet! Had to do this with my Dolly - turns out all things made from cows (except beef) give her trouble. I was happy to find out that all I had to do was give up milk & cheese to make her colic go away... but after two years of dairy-less-ness, we are both lactose intolerant now. Oy.

Dolly also got us both when she learned to roll over - we both found it out the hard way but didn't tell each other because we were both too horrified to admit we'd let her roll off of something.

They are born tough for a reason!

Yaaay for Izzy's milestones....I love that we can track these now in our blogs. I know I would forget.
Darn his good rolling technique....at least his landing wasn't too bad....
I hope you get your ice cream soon!!!!

Clapping! Chanting "mama"! Self-injury! Sounds like Izzy is a genius.

And how have you handled a dairy-free diet? I think I would die without cheddar.

I agree - he's a genius - on all accounts!

If it makes you feel any better my then 9 month old daughter who had JUST started crawling that day fell down an entire set of stairs into our basement. We weren't prepared with baby gates because she hadn't started crawling until that day. Luckily, and I have no idea how, she only ended up with a couple scrapes on her little noggin. I believe I was switching laundry over and folding clothes when it happened. One minute she was playing on the living room floor and the next minute I was hearing her thumping down the stairs. It was an awful awful sound.

Yay for clapping hands. Eliza does this one too. Maybe if they get together they can play pat-a-cake! Eliza would roll off of the table too if I changed her on it anymore. I think they should add a wrist and ankle strap feature for fiesty babies! I am kidding of course.

You are a great momma. Max fell off the bed a few times too. It always made me feel horrible but luckily I was too tired to have guilt. I love ya Christy!!

Holy cow, he's already 7 months!? And I think I have officially earned my worst mother of the year because Taylor has had two major incidents happen in the last 3 wks which I am still upset over :( Maybe I'll email you and tell you about them!

Oh no... no feeling guilty!!! It happens. Kalila just fell off the bed this morning (I was out of room and Jas fell asleep). We feel horrid, but they get over it.

That's great about all the milestones though! Its so fun watching them learn everything... and a bit sad too because it happens so fast.

christy, bad things happen to even the best!!! besides, little izzy passed the thirty second rule (just kidding;).
firsts are a lot of fun... i bet even more fun with the second given that you have a base line.
i hope your weekend is off to a good start.

Don't feel bad about Izzy. I let Ellie roll off the couch and she landed on her head and neck HARD!!!

I felt horrible. Have a good weekend!

I've seen my kids fall off the changing table, fall off the bed, fall down the stairs. Always terrifying - but they seem to bounce.

Way to go Izzy! Sucks he fell off the change table. It can happen so fast. How many times have I done just exactly what you described with the damn diaper genie! mmmm strawberry milkshake yumm. Hope you can have one soon!

so cute! It's great when they start to learn and interact ... it makes parenting worth it.

And don't worry about the changing table ... when my son was 2 weeks old, I put him on top of the laundry basket and he rolled right off. I was horrified, but he was OK. Kids are pretty resilient.

Oh, I managed to do that already as well. Adi tumbled off of the couch and bumped her head.
She was pretty pissed off but recovered. Hoping that you get to have some ice cream soon.

My kids like to fall off from the bed. Little Monkeys!

Luckily, babies are made of rubber!

Our daughter rolled off the bed one night (co-sleeping) - still not sure how she got on the other side of me... I also accidentally banged her head on the door when trying to carry her, open the door, and check something in the diaper bag...

She's no worse for the wear, though... thank goodness!

Yay Izzy!! (On the clapping & Mama part, not the falling off the changing table part)

We've all done it. Take your eye off them for one second & THAT'S when they decide to roll over.

Time to stop using the table & just change him on the floor.
