Sleep problems? Seriously?

I haven't been getting much sleep lately. My kids are sleeping great. My husband is sleeping great. But me? I toss and turn all night long. Also, I am having lots of trouble falling asleep. I lay awake for HOURS every night. And my husband's snoring isn't helping the situation. When I finally do fall asleep, I wake up every hour or two all night long.

When I wake up in the morning, I am usually not tired. I feel fine and chipper...until midday. Then I crash. I lay lifelessly on the couch, while the kids wreck havoc on our home. To remedy this problem, I have been trying to leave the house in the afternoons. If you see a zombie roaming the aisles of Target, that would be me. Or if you see a woman at the park with toothpicks propping up her eyelids, that would be me.

I can't seem to break this cycle. I have tried going to bed earlier. No dice. I just lay awake in bed for 3 hours instead of 2. I want desperately to take some Tylenol PM, but I am still nursing. I also want to kick my husband out of our bedroom, but he isn't too keen on this idea. I guess I just have to wait it out.

Seriously I could have written this! No, mine is getting better. I didn't wake up last night... I am still crashing during the day, but it's only during nap time now. I hope yours gets better too!

Oh I feel you on this. If I don't fall asleep before the hubs I am up all night from his snoring. Seriously the more I hear it the more pissed I get and the higher my blood pressure gets and then I am so fired up I can't sleep. See just this comment got me all fired up just thinking about it, lol!

hey call your dr, because i got the go ahead for tylenol pm while nursing codi. they said as long as i didn't take it every single night it wouldn't effect my milk supply. in my case it didn't. but i would call your dr to double check because i'm about 98% sure it's okay to take it.

Kick hubby out! Just for a bit! He may not like it, but you need some sleep, too :)

Easy for me to say, I actually did kick my husband out. :)

Snoring is sooo annoying. Give him a sharp nudge in the ribs, if it doesn't stop him at least it will wake him up!

Over here you can buy herbal sleeping remidies ~ again i don't know if they are safe to take while breast feeding though.

Love,

Try some earplugs. My husband snores and I had this same problem as you too. For awhile I tried to deal with it or I'd kick his butt out of the bed and make him sleep on the couch. But that wasn't very marital so I eventually tried the earplugs and it works like a dream. I can still hear enough noise but not the drone of his very loud snoring. I turn the baby monitors up really loud so I can hear the kids even through the earplugs. It doesn't seem to bother him, men sleep through pretty much anything.

It's so important to get sleep, for your health and sanity. I know when I don't get enough I am so darn cranky and impatient which isn't good for my kids. I know you want to and are having some insomnia. I think many people go through stages of that. I know I have! Seems like the more you try to go to sleep the harder it is.

So having my doctorate in google I totally feel qualified to tell you to take a dose of Tylenol PM and put in some earplugs. Tell John for that first night if you don't as move and one of the kids needs you - it's HIS job so you can get some quality sleep.

Do you have a lot of things on your mind? And don't take Tylenol PM...there is something called Simply Sleep...it's Tylenol PM without the Tylenol. It's not good to take Tylenol if you don't absolutely need it.

And I did this last night. I layed there exhausted but couldn't stop thinking about something I was mad about and then my husband kept snoring and keeping me up even more.

I need to get in a better mood. ANd I hope you get some sleep!

Perhaps you are under a little stress? Here's my 2 cents....

Get yourself a bottle of Calgon or some other good-smelling-bubble-bath-stuff. Get yourself a small bottle of wine. (I prefer Merlot...) One glass of wine won't hurt. Get yourself a nice trashy novel/murder mystery. Spend AT LEAST 45 minutes in the hot, steamy, fragrant water. Then go to bed.

What about wine?

Try sleeping in your guest room, or on the couch for a night or two. Or use a white noise machine in your bedroom to drown out his snoring. I know this is a crap suggestion - but maybe exercise during the day when you've got energy and you'll be more tired at night? I hate having sleep issues - it's the pits. Good luck!

same issue here friend. it's gotten really, really bad lately. and now that the baby girl is waking up at the butt crack, i am having a real hard go.

i have to reset my schedule and go to bed earlier.

and don't even get me started on the snoring husband. lets just say he's lucky to still be alive.

I have been having sleep issues as well. I have been taking Tylenol PM on a regular basis for at least a month and at first it worked like a miracle! But now my body must've acclimated to it or something because it is NOT WORKING ANYMORE.

This is so funny- I was just getting ready to write a post about my exhaustion. WAH.

I do this too. Hope it passes. Drives me crazy when the kids sleep well and I can't. (Okay, crazier.)
