GOD DAMN STUPID MOTHER FUCKING RASH!

Izzy still has a rash. Every day it looks worse. Every day it gets a little bigger. Every day I want to kick myself in the ass for letting them give my baby the MMR, Varicella, and Hep A vaccines all at one time.

The corticosteroid cream prescribed last week wasn't helping Izzy, so we went back to the doctor's office on Saturday morning. A non-steroid cream and Zyrtec were prescribed. Additionally, Izzy was given a referral for a dermatologist.

I went to Target to have his new prescription filled, but I was informed that my insurance doesn't cover the cream. I was going to pay for it out-of-pocket until she announced the total - $194! $194 for a tiny little tube of cream - a cream that might not even help. So, I didn't purchase the cream. I am going to call the doctor's office tomorrow and explain the situation. I hope that there is an alternative cream they can prescribe that my insurance will cover.

This little incident at Target reminded me that my insurance SUCKS. I went home and looked up dermatologists. Out of 22 people listed in the referral sheet, only four are covered by my insurance. And these four people all work in the same practice. So essentially, I only have one option for a dermatologist. I surely hope that they don't have a waiting list for appointments, because by baby boy needs help NOW.

Honestly, I am feeling a little depressed about this whole thing. My little guy is suffering.

Oh, poor Izzy. I hope the rash clears up soon and you find a solution to your insurance woes. Insurance and money (especially when it has to do with kids) really do suck!

if he's itchy, try plain unflavored yogurt. Rub it on like lotion. (I'd say something silly about not eating the baby because itchy babies ARE NOT funny.)(and unflavored yogurt is nasty.)
It's non-invasive, non-medical, and might be a little helpful.

I paid 80 for a little tube of cream once. It hurt.

I hope you can get that fixed for him. SO sorry.

Poor Izzy! I hope you get it healed quickly... (and not so expensively) I second trying the yogurt thing.

poor baby:[ hopefully there will be an alternative (or the dr. may have a sample... as no one ever uses the whole tube, anyway:/), no waiting list, and you will see a really good dermatologist, christy!!!

Christy ~ I hope that your little guy will be ok ~ Lauren had the rash for a few weeks and we used calamine lotion to ease the itch etc ~ maybe that would help Izzy!
Love and hugs Tabitha XXXXX

I am so sorry about Izzy! Poor fella. I really hope you get an appointment soon and the dermatologist figures out what is going on.

I'm just going to throw this out there as a shot in the dark because you just never know....a friend of mine recently had her 8 month old son in and out of the doctors (derm too) because he had a mysterious rash. They couldn't figure out what was going on until they finally took some blood and found out he had mononucleosis! Isn't that so strange for a baby to have? She said he wasn't even exhibiting the classic mono symptoms either (like being tired or running a fever). But that's what was wrong!

So, just something to keep in mind.
