I am having a really hard time sticking to a damn theme in the kitchen. First I wanted a Tuscan look. Then I wanted something more modern. Then I wanted something vintage. It is all very confusing. And expensive.
At first, I was just going to paint the walls and buy a new painting. But then I realized that I would need a new tablecloth. And then I realized that I would need a new cookie jar and salt & pepper shakers. And then I realized that I would have to replace our clock. And then I realized that I would have to replace all of the throw rugs. DAMN! This little projects is going to drive us into the poorhouse.
We currently have a rooster theme, and I don't really like any of our decor. It was cute in our kitchen in Kentucky, but it just looks drab and boring in our current kitchen. I made the mistake of acquiring EVERYTHING rooster themed. Why didn't I just buy a regular clock? Did the throw rugs all have to have big roosters on them? A rooster timer? WHAT WAS I THINKING?
So, I am in the process of buying all new EVERYTHING for the kitchen. My husband is pretty pissed, because we are trying to save money. But I can't do it half-assed - I have to go all the way. Aren't these the cutest wall hangings?
My husband dosen't like them, but I LOVE them. What do you think?

they are vintage cute - definitely!
could you come to a compromise?? go for the theme but keep most everything else less themed so that if (and when) you want a change again ... you can mix it up a little??
(have you checked out consignment shops or salvation army type stores?? if you are going vintage anyways ...)
You are reminding me of the kids book "If you give a mouse a cookie" but you would be "If you give a mom new paint in the kitchen."
Hm. Not a fan of fruit for anything, except to eat. :( Sorry. I went with no theme. I just put stuff in there I liked. :)
I don't think we have a theme. Maybe blue? Anyway those are nice! Have fun propping up the economy!
You're too funny! I think they are totally cute! I can't wait to see the finished product!
i'm with you on "out with the old and in with the new" when redecorating, christy... but, redecorating and saving money don't usually go hand in hand as you have already realized:P good luck!!!
love,
dani
OMG I am doing the SAME THING! I cannot decide between modern, traditional, vintage, etc. I think our house is just going to go for a combo theme. I'll just say it's eclectic. : )
I love them!!
I have done the same as you in the past ~ I remember having a farm yard theme in my kitchen once ~ EVERYTHING was farm yard......then 2 weeks later I walked in the kitchen and hated it!!!!!!
(even the toaster had cows sheep and pigs on ha ha !!!!).
Needless to say ~ I kept it pretty neutral after that!!
Hope you get everything sorted out
love and hugs Tabitha XXXXX
I grew up in a fruit theme kitchen...and I think I am all friuted out. haha I don't do themes...i think it is because when I was little my mom had a theme in every room. We even had an Amish living room.
you asked, so i'm going to tell ya.... i agree w/ your hubby on this one. i don't care for them...
I like option B from your previous post.
I am in favor. Very cute!
Not really my thing, but that you like them is the important part lol.
I agree with the first comment though... I'd get a few themed things and get the rest something more neutral. Just so you don't have this problem again...
just remember less is more.
especially on the cost front. keep it simple. keep it 'clean' then go all out on a few themed things.
even if hubby doesn't like them :)
Well, I like everything "cow" in my kitchen....so who am I to judge!!!
We went with a bunch of stuff from home goods on top of the cabinets but there seems to be a rooster theme. I do like the fruit theme but is it worth hubby being annoyed. hahahaha
Love them!
