Guilt

I have been soooo good with money for the past few months. I have been keeping track of every penny that we spend. I haven't turned on the furnace in a month to save money. We never eat out anymore. Basically, I only spend money on the essentials.

So let's talk about the ballet pictures. When the dance studio sent home the form for pictures, I was shocked at the prices. All of the packages were outrageous. I decided to skip the pictures at the dance studio and to instead have them taken at Sears (because I had a coupon). Of course Porgie's pictures were adorable, and I couldn't pick just one pose.I ended up spending way more on my Sears photos than I would have at the dance studio. Gah. The guilt I feel over this purchase is overwhelming.

To make matters worse, I also stopped by Macy's to purchase some summer clothes for myself (I had a gift card leftover from my birthday). I usually have trouble finding cute (and reasonably priced) clothes at Macy's. But not on Monday. I found the cutest capri pants and an adorable summer shirt. I ended up going $8 over the gift card balance. That small amount coupled with the huge photo purchase is killing me. I have apologized 100 times to John (and of course, he doesn't even understand why I keep apologizing).

So, I have been bad with money this week. And I feel guilty.

Okay, I'll just say: DO NOT FEEL BADLY!! Porgie will only be this small once and you'll always have those photos to cherish and look back on and smile. You can't put a price tag on that.

As for summer clothes... if you went $8 over...then so what? You need clothes and $8 is a small reward for doing so well lately.

Just know that you're still doing well in the money dept and John is happy with it, so you should too. :)

*HUGS*

If it makes you feel better, I do the same thing. I save and scrimp, then for no apparent reason I go on a spending binge. I haven't found a way to combat it yet, but to keep my finances on track, I keep a bit of money aside each week and when it adds up to enough (the amount is random--it is emotional not logical) then I can go shopping.

Stop feeling guilty and try to stay on your budget this week. Do your best, the rest doesn't matter.

Wow, it sounds like the way you feel about this is sort-of like how those really annoying hard-core dieters feel when they have a slice of pizza or something. You have been SO GOOD for so long, this one blip is definitely not going to make or break you. Just accept that you don't like how going over your budget feels, and then move on. That's all you can do! Plus $8!? That's a bargain I would say!

Forgive yourself, agree to not do it again soon and move on.

One slip up is fine as long as it doesn't continue.

BTW, I don't remember if I emailed you back... scatter brain these days. BUT I hadn't cleaned under my sink in 5+ years, so you're not that far behind! hehehe.

It sounds like you have been doing great with money! And it must be changing your lifestyle... but don't feel bad. Little overs every once in awhile won't kill you. Love the ballet pictures too! Super cute.

Don't beat yourself up! You've done really well over the last few months and are entitled to spend a little. The photos were adorable and money well spent. :)
