Rainy day

Just wondering - what the hell do you do with your child when it rains? Porgie and I have gotten into the habit of going to the park twice a day. We go once in the morning and once in the afternoon. This is a great way to kill time, and also a great way to meet other moms. The only problem with this plan is rain.

Today it rained nearly the entire day. We were stuck in the house, and it was awful. My child kept running to the door and saying, "Zide." This means outside. However, we couldn't go outside. Needless to say, there was lots of whining. Of course, this means that I ended up entertaining her with Baby Einstein videos. The day just seemed to last FOREVER. FOREVER.

This made me start thinking about winter. What the hell am I suppose to do with her when it gets cold outside? Should I take her outside anyways? I have a feeling that this is going to be the longest winter of my life.

Also, did I mention that I will have a newborn this winter? What am I suppose to do with all these children?

Yes, I think you will just have to go outside in the winter. Or to libraries, malls, indoor play areas, other people's houses, stores, etc. How to do that with a toddler and a newborn I don't know. Let us know how that will work out. :)

When it rains we go to the mall's play area or we get friends together and play at someone's house. I can't stand to stay home alone for an entire day!

We go to soft play quite often, its rains loads here most of the time! I bought play dough this week and was big hit. I hate stopping in, have intentions of lazy days and by lunch time i am getting ready to go out

We go outside if it below 90 and above 40. In your case, the newborn will complicate matters at first. I would think once the baby is 2 months old, you could bundle the baby up in a carrier or sling - ask your doctor what he/she thinks. My doctor is very relaxed about babies being in the elements.

For really cold days, I recommend looking into malls, libraries and any other indoor activities. We have gyms that hold "open" sessions and we also have community centers that have special play sessions. Children's museums are also pretty cool and Porgie is probably getting old enough now. Last winter, I was so desperate for some "big, open" spaces for my son to run around in, we even went to the Post office a few times.

you should check out www.meetup.com

I actually organize a moms group on there and we do alot of house playdates...

You are lucky that she will watch the TV, Ella has no interest in watching cartoons or videos...

I put on a wonderful little movie for E called OPEN SEASON!! She loves that movie and if it is on, she watches and refuses to be interupted!!

That is what we do when it rains in MN........which seems to be all the time lately!

Gotta love the rain ;-) We got snow here for the first time this season today! I would say bundle the kids up and let them go outside!

I took Max outside all last winter. He lodev being in the cold but he was also little. I hear storytime at the library it great, playdates, malls, museums and making stuff is also pretty time consuming-like baking.

Also, I took Max outside the whole winter. I pushed him in a stroller except for when it was so windy that it was hard for me. Everyday I went for a 30 to 40 minute walk. He was born Dec so trust me-it worked. What kind of stroller are you getting for both babies?
