As usual, I took Porgie to the park this morning. There was another little boy at the park, who had three large whelps on his arm. I asked his mother how he had acquired these strange bumps, and she wasn't sure. She suspected that they were just bug bites.
I, on the other hand, suspected that they were MRSA. The marks looked unusually large and unusually nasty. The little boy kept touching Porgie, and I kept having mini heart attacks.
When we got home from the park, I thoroughly washed Porgie's hands and arms, but I am still worried. MRSA has killed several high school students in our area. Obviously High School students have a better immune system than my 1-year old baby.
Since we are talking about illnesses, lets discuss the fact that Porgie is still coughing all night long. She is still coughing so hard that she wakes herself up. I think we are going to go back to the doctor's office again.
Have you noticed that I have turned into a neurotic basket case?

I worry all of the time too. Your not alone and yes, that stuff scares the crap out of me too.
Oh poor Porgie. It's not croup? My friend's kid has croup all the time. See what the doc says. And maybe put a little bleach in her bath if it helps you feel better (I'm actually not kidding--some people do that instead of use antibiotics). I was really freaked out about MRSA after we were spending a lot of time in the hospital with my grandfather. So many things to worry about these days. Maybe this is your way of nesting? Trying to make sure everything is set for Porgie. ONE MONTH AND ONE DAY LEFT BEFORE YOU MEET YOUR NEW BABY!
Whoa, Nelly!
Yep, you are a paranoid basket case. Um. But. A NORMAL one. When I am pregnant, my brain goes cuh-razy with anything and everything.
Hang in there. It is tough being pregnant with the 2nd one because it is twice the worry. Better get used to it. :-)
I don't know what MRSA is but I hope that Porgie doesn't get it! That sucks that she is still having the cough, it's got to be getting pretty old to listen to by now!
Christy--What is MRSA? Is that the "killer bug" that keeps going around?
MRSA is a staph infection that doesn't respond to antibiotics. My grandmother has this type of staph infection. Its awful.
Staff Infections scare the absolute crap out of me!! My question is what is croup?? I hope Porgie gets better soon!!
I work in an ER.
I'm sure that I would test + for the MRSA Nasal swab test.
yuck.
some kids really do get big welps as reactions to bug bites. Gage does.
