Did you know that I am a bad mother?

I haven't talked much about it, but Porgie has been having some issues lately. About a month ago, Porgie caught a little cold. She was sick for about 2 days, with a cough and a runny nose. After the two days, she was back to her normal self. However, she continued to cough at night. We put a humidifier in her room, to no avail. Around this time, Porgie also developed diarrhea. I thought the diarrhea was directly related to the cold, so I didn't think much of it.

For the past month, Porgie has had a cough at night and diarrhea during the day. To justify my negligence, allow me to explain why I let these two problems persist for so long. During the first two weeks, I thought she would fight the cold off herself. During the third week, I started to voice my concerns to John. He assured me that she was fine. During the fourth week, I came to my senses and decided to call the pediatrician's office.

I called this morning around 8:30 am. When I told the nurse how long Porgie had been coughing, she sounded shocked. She made me confirm that she had been coughing for a month approximately 5 times. The nurse told me to make an appointment and come in immediately.

An hour later, I was at the doctor's office. It turns out that Porgie had a cold, which developed into a sinus infection - which she has had for a month. I felt like a huge asshole when the doctor told me this. And apparently Porgie also has "Toddler Tummy." There appears to be no reason for her diarrhea, and we just have to suffer through it. Ugh.

Oh, Christy, I am sure I would have done the same. Who would suspect? I'm sorry.

Ma'am. Step away from the Guilt.

Seriously, Christy.

When my kids have a cold, I rarely call the doctor. And it is SO easy to lose track of time. I did not even call the doctor for MYSELF earlier this year until my husband said "Hey, Idiot. Call the doctor." It turned out I had bronchitis.

Hang in there and rest assured that you are a good mother. It is not like you have been posting these past few weeks about all the Boozin' and Cruisin' you have been up to. You are building a human from scratch, after all.

So many parents rush their kids to the dr for antibiotics to fight every little thing. You are not a horrible mom for not doing that.

and besides, diarrhea can also be linked to teething, so I wouldn't have rushed Gage to the dr for that...

Just proves you arent a whinging Mummy whos at the docs for no reason. I think the nurse over reacted and you have nothing to feel guilty about. And if you lived where i do you would have had to wait 10days for her to see someone so I'd have not bothered ringing hoping its get better!

I hope this makes you feel better, I also would have told K to hold on going to the doc. Then again I hate the doc and I know E does to so.

Thanks for the comment, and I see your point about leaving other people comments.

I hope your few weeks of being prego go well!

what everyone else said: you're a good mom, and not doing bad by Porgie by not rushing her to the doc for everything.

O's been coughing for about three weeks, just at night. we WERE at the doctor at the beginning because his breathing was impacted, but his breathing's been clear for more than two weeks yet the coughing remains. and unless he shows fever or some other sign of infection or problem, we won't bring him back - there's very little they can do and i really don't want to start the antibiotic routine.

Definantly not a bad mom. I did the same thing with Taylor last month. She had a runny nose for like three weeks and I didn't think anything of it and she was waking up every two hours at night. Asa finally convinced me I should call the doc and it turns out she had a double ear infection! I felt guilty for letting it go on so long but sometimes you just think it will go away on its own. So don't get yourself down it happens to the best of us!
