There is this stuff they sell at pet stores to clean up accidents. It's a Bacterial Enzyme that will "eat" organic material (urine and feces). It *might* work on Skunky stuff in the house if your dog leaned her skunkified self on the couch or something.
The thing with this type of cleaner is that if you've already put another kind of cleaner in the area it won't work and the spot you use this one must remain wet for 12 or 24 hours or something like that. There are a bunch of different brands and I think they all work about the same. The one I use is called "Nature's Miracle" and comes in a white bottle with red letters.
As for the dog, I've heard of the tomato sauce baths. I don't know if they work, but heck tomato sauce isn't that expensive. :P
There's something called Anti Icky Poo (not kidding) that takes the scent of yuck out of carpet, etc. You can get it online ... not sure if your local pet stores carry it.
BUT...when our dog cornered a skunk and my mother-in-law went to go get him and managed to get sprayed right along with him, leading my father-in-law to make them both sit in the bed of the truck on the ride home? THAT was funny.
Totally not funny for you, though. No one should have to deal with skunk smell in the house.
"oh shit!!!" is right:/ christy, does oust/febreeze work on such odors as skunk??? good luck!!! love, dani ps the halloween photo of i and p is darling:)
OUr dog got sprayed by a skunk years and years ago. We tried EVERYTHING to get rid of it. We finally called the vet and got some stuff from them. We had to bathe her every day for 4 days to get rid of it 100%, but after the first wash it was amazing that the smell was almost gone. We also got some spray from the vet that we sprayed all over the furniture and it got rid of the smell immediately. I do not know the name of it, but I am sure if you call the vet they can help you out.
Oh my gosh! My friend just had this happen he said Downy fabric softener, along with peroxide, baking soda and Dawn dish soap, got the skunk stench out of the dog! Good luck.
Oh this happened to my mom before she had kids. And the dog jumped all over her so she smelled like skunk. I don't remember what she did about the smell but tomato juice was involved for getting off of her and the dog.
oh hunny, open the windows, light some candles, kick the dog out, kick the hubby and kids out and have a good ole shower cry :) It might be Sunday but I am having some wine for you tonight, I need it to so you are one more reason to pop the cork..if we lived close I'd invite you over for a glass!
Dang. Now is the time to tell hubby that you are going to the dayspa and getting a mani/pedi and a massage and facial, etc. And he can clean it up and take care of the kids. You are taking your break.

if only you could climb on into the internet where it's not smelly. we could all go get a cup of coffee and forget about all that silliness!
Double shit! Hope you find a solution fast!
