Hello World

Sorry for the silence, but things have been a little hectic in Cakerwakerville. My Izzy Whizzy Woo has learned how to get into a sitting position from his stomach. Normally this would be a wonderful new milestone, but this milestone has enabled my little guy to pull himself up in his crib. And the child cannot get down from a standing position. Izzy has decided that 4 am is the perfect time to practice this new skill. I spend half my nights laying him down and the other half listening to him scream. Ugh. So, I've been a little tired. Actually, that is an extreme understatement. I have been completely and utterly exhausted.

I took the kids apple picking yesterday. It was very cute watching Porgie pluck apples off of trees. However, I was a little shocked at the outrageous prices at the farm. It was $3.95 per person for the hayride (Izzy was free) and $5.90 to feed the farm animals/play on the jungle gyms. YIKES! So basically, I spent nearly $14 before I even made it to the damn orchards. And the worst part is, I now have a ton of apples in my kitchen, which means my husband is expecting me to bake something yummy. This whole "going to the farm" trip has turned out to be a lot of money and work.

Today we stayed home. I hate staying home all day, but my house was filthy. Seriously, it was getting to the point where I felt ashamed of myself for living in squalor. So, I did some major cleaning this morning. I even scrubbed some of my greasy fingerprint covered walls. I love the look of flat paint, but my kids have wrecked havoc on my walls.

Yes, this post was fairly boring. I am sorry. To make up for my blandness, here are some pictures for little old you...

Oh no - every milestone brings some sleepless nights!

And my house is always a mess - so I can relate to that!

there is an upside to your orchard story (and you didn't even know it)... i thought you typed that porgie was puking apples (i thought, "on no..."), then, i reread that she was plucking them:)
so, see it was better than it could have been!!!
good luck on that yummy dessert;b
love,
dani

Damn those sleepless nights....can you tell I'm having one now!!! Its not Z's fault though....its non drowsy cold medicine's fault.

Thanks for warning me of the dangers of the apple orchard, I was thinking of going.....til now.

Love all the sweet pics....we have that same turtle sandbox....I guess everyone has that though, huh? :)

Good luck to you, Christy through baby Izzy's latest milestone...

Apple pie or apple cobbler sounds good. :)

Whenever I have a lot of apples, we have simmered apples w/cinnamon
with almost every meal. Maggie really likes peanut butter & apple sandwiches. Just slice them really really thin.

apples are SO good! Bring them to my house and I'll make some apple bread (has cream cheese and cinammon in it...yum!).

I need to clean my house! I have seriously thought about hiring someone to come in this month to do a crazy cleaning because it is just far too overwhelming for me right now.

Girl, I am in the same boat as you right now!
Makayla has been pulling herself up in her crib and she SCREAMS because she can't get down.
I don't know what to do! She's not napping...she's not sleeping at night...
I'm sorry for you!!
Adorable pics!! :)

I am craving apples all the time these days, so I'm a little jealous of your apple haul.

I want to go apple picking, but the mere idea makes me tired. And there's no place close to us, so factor in gas ... nevermind. I don't even want to think about it.

Ugh....those were the worst days. But soon they'll be behind you and you can look forward to something else!

And I don't believe that those adorable children would be so rude as to leave fingerprints all over your walls...

Porgie looks like she is getting a lot more hair!

You poor thing, I hope you get some sleep soon.

Hugs.

I know the feeling of being tired. I too am tired. I feel for ya.

They charge for the hayride. That is so damn crazy. I have never heard of that. That stinks. Throe all the apples in a pot with raisins, brown sugar or maple syrup, some water and let them stew and then you have applesauce and it is easy. If John wants something else-then throw it with some soy ice cream and some granola and have cobbler. Easy does it momma!

Oh goody. 4 am wakeups.

Yeah I find that problem with industrious fruit picking also. This summer my husband and I picked over 10 lbs of blueberries...and then we were like, crap what do we do with all these blueberries?!?!?

Store bought apples are highly under-rated! I've made more trips to the apple orchards/farms in the past 5years with the kids' school field trips...I'll be OK if I never see another!
