Blah, blah, blah and I want more babies

Let's talk some more about periods and birth control and pregnancy. I feel like I didn't fully explain myself yesterday. So, today I am going to delve a little deeper into the issues at hand - namely, all things related to fertility.

Did you know that I have only had two periods since August of 2005? That sound like crazy talk - right? But it is true. I found out I was pregnant with Porgie in September of 2005. She was born in June of 2006. I pumped for 6 months, and didn't start my period until I stopped pumping. I got my period in January and February and found out I was pregnant with Izzy in March of 2007. I've been period free since his birth in November of 2007. So, last week's pregnancy scare wasn't related to a late period or anything - I just took the test because I started getting paranoid.

Moving on to birth control. You would think that having two children under the age of two would have motivated my ass to get on birth control, but it didn't. I really didn't want to take anything while I was breastfeeding. So, John volunteered to start using condoms. He even went to the store and bought a pack. But unfortunately, he never actually uses them. So, we have reverted back to the withdrawal method. If you recall, this is the method we were using when Izzy was conceived. Not good for a family who really can't afford another baby right now.

I do actually want to have more babies some day. To be exact, I want to have four children. With that said, I do not plan on becoming pregnant anytime soon. Maybe in 4 or 5 years? Maybe even longer? I don't think John wants to have anymore children. It kind of pisses me off and makes me sad all at the same time. But I am a very persistent asshole, so I am sure if I really want to have another baby, I can make it happen.

Okay, let's review what we learned today - I am period free, I need more reliable birth control, and I want to have more babies someday. The end.

Man, there sure is a lot of baby fever going 'round the blogosphere!

Hubby and I were also using the *ahem* Coitus interruptus method as well. And now we have (nearly) two beautiful children!

So I am THE poster child for "No way that's gonna keep you from getting pregnant, honey"

That being said, we'll be facing this decision after I stop pumping, too, and I'm not sure where we'll go. I've considered that insert able kind of birth control, like Minerva, because I'm terrible at taking pills.

I have nightmares about getting pregnant again...3 children in 1.5 years is quite enough for me. But I can sympathize with your situation of wanting more while your husband doesn't. Right before I got pregnant with the twins (which was unplanned), my husband was talking about just stopping at one baby. So that didn't really work out for him...

Well, at least you're enjoying lots of period free time. I got my period two months after having my daughter and she's never gotten a drop of formula. I don't know what went wrong there. We go by the condom method since the pills have made me a little crazy in the past, unfortunately I think that also just reduces the number of times that we actually need the condoms.

This happened to me and I freaked out too. I am constantly worried. Oh and we trusted the good old withdrawl method for a very long time.

I hated being on birth control because I always forgot to take the pill, so in May I went and got an IUD put in and it's the best thing ever! It stays put for 5 yrs and I don't even have to think about it, you might look into that instead of other birth control

Everyone else is prego and Bayley is 5 months old ...and I can't wait to be prego again!

Like you, I want 4 kids...but I have one 6 year old stepson so that knocks me down to 3. I'm now in my early 30s so we need to get down to business! But I can't afford daycare...can they come to your house? You are hilarious!

Wow. I remember having that feeling. Also remember getting pregnant once using the method you described, after finding out that birth control pills make me act like the devil. (ahem)

The feeling goes away. And comes back. In between wanting more desperately, you'll be so grateful you don't have any more.

Oh - and I tagged you with an award on my site today. Be sure to check it out!

just don't let him get a vasectomy. At times I am sorry bruce got one, cause sometimes I get baby fever and want another but I know it will pass. Sometimes I wish we would have had two more I know I didn't want three so we stopped at two but a couple more might have worked lol

I had no idea you wanted four. Have fun with that!

PS: Sometimes I think a surprise third baby would be nice, in like ten years. Not too much of a surprise though if I'm saying that now! Plus I don't even really want a second. It's very complicated.

hahaha.....will there be a pop quiz?

So, I got pregnant with using the condom method.....nothing is fullproof but abstinence.

My midwife had given me a few of these films that I could put up there and she told me it was safe for me to use that only while breast feeding. I will go up stairs and email you later when I find one and those worked great. UGH the withdrawal method to me is more scary than a horrible yucky and boring condom.

Having one has been good enough birth control for me. Ha.

Hi! First time on this blog - I headed over from "loving our simple life". Anyway, I noticed imommy commented that she may try Mirena birth control. I had to comment to let you know that I GOT PREGNANT with that inserted. Yes, it had been in for about 6 months and I became pregnant, and then unfortunately miscarried. You should also know that I am the only patient my doctor has had that this has happened to, but it was a very scary and ultimately sad thing to go through. I am now taking it up with the drug company. Anyway, didn't mean to be a downer, but it's always good to look out for eachother!!!

A friend of mine had two boys, an 8 year old and a 6 year old ... and then got pregnant again. A year later, she got pregnant one more time. So all four of her boys ... the first two were close and the second two were close. And I always thought that was so, so cool.

And if I'd gotten started younger, I might've done something like that.

Coleton= Withdrawl Method Baby as well. Also when I got pregnant with him I hadn't had a period for three months- sooo HOW EXACTLY WAS I OVULATING?

It's a mystery.

Okay...only slightly related but I have to share because it's a funny example of birth control not working so well:

A mommy I know got pregnant on the night of her wedding. They used a condom, but afterward found out it ripped...their best guess is that it was on the tulle on her wedding dress.

You are so funny and freaking lucky!!!!! I couldn't imagine having no periods. Well I can now that I am pregnant, but before that, I have never gone as long as you. 4 kids would be awesome. If all goes as planned that is what we will end up having (only two from me), but 4 all together.

To show how tired I am/was I hadn't read into your post beyond a scare... I want more kids too, but it happens.

I hope my stuff works out similarly to yours w/ the periods. So far made it 11 mo's w/out one... and we start trying for #2 in May. I've had a few scares already too though. I'm reminded almost daily online (lovely mom's at CafeMom) that you don't need a period to get pg lol.

I can't say anything about the bc thing... because I'm no better. But I have a good reason, I don't believe in it lol. We're using NFP (fun fun w/ no cycles) and I wish I could say that I've been good & recorded every day... but remember how I've been sick? Yeah I went a couple weeks w/out charting...

I'm sure you're other kids (when & if you have them) will be gorgeous. I always wanted at least 4 (and am lucky that my husband is ok w/ that & actually wants more than that) so makes me smile to hear when someone else wants 4 or so.

i too am not a fan of the pill. Who knows what we'll end up doing after this one pops out. Probably just the old fingers crossed method. :)

You just crack me up. Thanks for lightening my mood on this subject considerably!!! Hopefully, we'll both be blogging about our FOUR kids some day ;-)

I have you beat, i have had three periods since September 2004 and will more than likely not have another for about a year - making it 3 in 5 years. I like those figures.

I dread the thought of getting pregnant again, pretty much ever (keep in mind im currently 38 weeks pregnant just now). Have you thought of an IUD? I would not recommend the chemical free one (um i was using that when this baby was conceived) but the other one is meant to be great

It always seems like the wife wants more children than the husband...and the wife usually gets her way ;).
