Dining room stuff

We took a couple of weeks off from the home improvement stuff due to illness and oral surgery, but now we are back at it.  I have finally selected a paint color for the dining room.  It is a lovely shade of blue.  The dining room was an olive green, which I really liked.  Originally, I was going to repaint it the same color (I am only repainting it because of some blemishes the kids causes when it was the playroom).  But then I started thinking about the colors in my house.  Almost everything is brown or green, but green is definitely the predominate color.  My dining room, kitchen, master bedroom, and Porgie's room are all green.  They are different shades of green, but they are still green.  So, I decided to mix it up a little bit and go with a deep blue.  I am excited and nervous to see how it comes out!

I have been busy prepping the walls.  My house was built in 1946, so it is nearly 70 years old.  The walls are riddled with imperfections, which drive me bonkers.  There is also wallpaper in every single room, including the closets.  It is even on the ceilings, which is just crazy.  The people who lived here before us just painted over the wallpaper, and when we were in the process of buying the house, I never noticed it.  But once all of their crap was gone, and we were standing in an empty house, I realized that we were screwed.  We didn't have the time to remove it all before our furniture arrived from Kentucky.  And, most importantly, I was 20 weeks pregnant and not willing to undertake that project.   We removed wallpaper in our first house, and it was a total pain in the ass.  To be fair, that house was over 100 years old, but it was still a huge project.  There were three layers of wallpaper in the living room.  THREE LAYERS.  And when I removed it, the plaster underneath was crumbling away.  I vowed to never remove wallpaper ever again.

Anyways, our current dining room had lots of little blemishes, which I sanded and patched and whatnot.  I am still not feeling up to removing that wallpaper, so I am just going to have to learn to love all those seams.  I am going to prime the walls and start on the trim tonight.  I am hoping to be completely done mid-week.

My friend bought a house from the 50s, and it is covered in painted-over wallpaper as well. I had never even heard of such a thing before that. So weird.
