I hate teeth

I had another Ortho appointment this week. Not good friends. Not good. The doctor told me that my teeth are moving at a very slow rate. Much slower than the average person. After looking at my before pictures, he confirmed what I had suspected. My teeth really haven't moved much at all during the last four months of treatment. So, he told me that my treatment plan will likely take longer than the original estimation of two years.

To say that I am disappointed is an understatement. I felt like crying when told me that I haven't made much progress. I look like a moron, my teeth hurt a lot, and I can't eat anything. Additionally, I paid $5,400 for these fucking braces, and I want to see some damn progress!

So, I am feeling a little melancholy today. It seems like nothing is ever easy. I am frustrated and disappointed. On the bright side, having braces on longer means that I'll have more time to save money toward my 5 dental implants. But thinking about the dental implants just depressed me again, because they cost a fortune. I am glutton for punishment.

That is a real bummer. Especially when there's not much you can do about it!

I feel for you.

I just got my braces off, but I had a different financial journey. I paid by the month until my teeth's position finally settled. Take them one day at a time...there might be days when you'll want those effers off!, but just hang in there. The final day will come whether it's 18 months or 36. AND AND AND...don't hesitate to get a second opinion. Any time along the road to straight teeth, go get another set of eyes and feedback!

Also keep in mind that your teeth may suddenly "snap to!" and start shifting fast. That will not, I repeat, _will not_, be a treat, but the body has a wisdom all its own.

If you're wearing bands, wear them religiously!

Hang in there. Keep in mind that when the braces do finally come off, you're not done...there are the retainers, which will help those free teeth (which are still like posts in wet cement) stabilize, and that can take anywhere from 1-5 years!

It can sometimes feel crappy and too long, but it will be worth it.
