A horrible turn of events

Things are not looking good for my sweet Puppy dog. After having x-rays taken of her tumor on Friday afternoon, we learned that it is growing inside of her nasal passage - not above it. Surgery is no longer an option. So we brought her home and gave her lots of love and attention. What else could we do?

Over the past two days, the bleeding has gotten much worse. It is now dripping from her nose at a steady rate. We all know what has to be done, but we avoid talking about it. I have decided that for the next few days we are going to PARTY with Puppy. We are going to go for walks, eat lots of junk food, and spend countless hours lounging on the couch. I am going to make these last few days the best that I can for her. She has been such a great dog. She deserves to be pampered and loved and cherished.

oh christy...
i'm so so sorry that you are going through this. we just recently had to put my childhood dog and cat down ... in the same weekend.
it sucks.
we didn't have the option of a last party filled week.
and i completely agree with you. give that girl one final party to remember you by.
it's hard to see them go ... but remember, you are making a decision to ultimately help her. and i'm positive that she is thankful for everything that you give her.
i just read an email the other day that said that they are here for a shorter amount of time ... because they get it right faster. so true, huh?
thinking of you and your family. please let me know if there is anything i can do to help. (besides write really long comments to read, when you should be partying!)

Oh no. I'm so sorry. I'm sure you gave your Puppy a lot of love this weekend. But I also know that this will be a hard week. I'll be thinking about you.

Christy I am so very sorry. Your attitude about your weekend with your puppy is fabulous, it's the perfect way to tell her goodbye. Our first dog, a beautiful golden, had cancer and we had to let him go. I'll be thinking about you all and your sweet girl. Love and hugs, Stacey

Oh babe... I am so sorry to hear this news... but I am so, so glad that you will have some special time.

Enjoy it. We are not overly religious, but we do believe that there is a special place in heaven for our pets.

Christy - I am SOOOO sorry. I know this is one of the hardest things to have to do...

I love your partying idea.

Remember, you gave her a good life and she knows you love her.

And....all dogs go to heaven!!!

I'll be praying for you and your family for the strength to deal with this....and for Puppy so she's not in pain.

I am so sorry for you and your family. I've had to put down kitties in the past and it is so hard to do. But when they are suffering, it really is the best thing to do.

Prayers and hugs for you...

I'm so sorry for you and for Puppy. Such a sweet baby. :(

I had to put my baby (Baleigh, I named my daughter Bayley after her because I found out I was pregnant a month later...and she was my first "baby" even though she was a furry baby.) to sleep a year ago this past August and it was AWFUL. I didn't get to cherish the last moments, but I did lay in the floor and bawl my eyes out for an hour before I'd let them do it. I think you are doing an AWESOME thing. Seriously. That is so sweet and thoughtful of you. And your baby dog will love it.

So sorry to read about Puppy.

I hope that there are lots of treats to eat, sofas to sleep on, cats to chase & fire hydrants galore in Doggy Heaven.

If I may, I'd like to offer this to you. Make sure you keep her tags & collar. My husky got out of the yard & was hit by a car. We had to put her down & in my sorrow, I didn't think to ask for them. I wish I had something (besides memories) of Blue to remember her by.

Oh, I am so sorry.
We had to put our Eddie to sleep almost a month ago. Those final hours....of knowing.....it was just awful.

Give the girl all of your attention. I gave Eddie a bath, and let him run around & shake while he was still wet...I cooked up ground beef for him for dinner...I let him eat everything that I was eating....I just let him have everything he wanted. And, I slept our final night together on the couch with him. We started on the laundry room floor---his normal spot, but I eventually just decided that he could snuggle on the couch with me.

It's so hard. It's one of those things about being a "grown up" that just sucks....such responsibility & decisions that we want to shield our children from forever...things that we never wanted to have to face ourselves!

I'm so sorry.
