Grateful

This was a good year. I have three amazing, beautiful, healthy, and adorable children.  What more could I ask for?

I love my babies.  I love my life.  I am eagerly looking forward to spending 2012 in the company of my wonderful family.  I am a very lucky girl.

BIG boy

I took my littlest babe to the pediatrician on Wednesday for his 2 month check-up. 2 months already! That sounds so big, like he isn't a teeny tiny baby anymore. Anyways, the pediatrician we seen was an older gentlemen. And by older, I mean older than dirt. He was probably closing in on 80. He gave me lots of outdated advice, like to retract my son's foreskin, to feed my 8 week old cereal, and to drink some wine before bed (in the hopes that it will sedate my wakeful babe). Old people! They are so crazy.

So, the wee little babe is 14 pounds! I knew he was starting to look like the classic chubby baby, but I had no idea that he had basically doubled his birth weight! My boobs are amazing, milk making machines. I think my overabundant milk supply is the source of my mastitis problems. I often wake up so engorged that I HAVE to pump. I know that this is only making the milk problem worse, but I can't walk around with bowling balls on my chest all day.

Guppy is doing great. In the past few weeks, I have noticed a definite increase in his awareness. He stares at people. He coos. He smiles (but very rarely). His little personality is already forming, and it is amazing to watch him change and grow. I just love that little babe so freaking much. I want to cuddle him and kiss him and nibble his chubby cheeks all day.

FIVE!

We had Porgie's 5th birthday party last weekend. She is really into dinosaurs right now, so we had fish cupcakes for the carnivores and leaf cupcakes for the herbivores. Look at my awesome baking skills...

Now that everyone has seen my fabulous cupcakes, we can move on to the actual party. We started out in the backyard, digging for dinosaur bones in the sandbox. It was a little overcrowded, but the kids didn't seem to mind...

Then we played "pin the head on the dinosaur skeleton," which no-one seemed to care about. Porgie liked it though...

Next we had to "hatch" dinosaur eggs. Here is a pictures of my son "hatching" his egg. I put candy inside the balloons, so the kids LOVED this activity...

Then it was lunchtime, so we went inside for some yummy pizza and cake...
And last, but certainly not least, Porgie opened her presents...

And a good time was had by all.

Technology is a pain in the ass.

So, my camera is on the fritz. We went to the Please Touch Museum for FREE on Friday (It was mommy blogger day. How cool is that?). It was AMAZING. I tried to take pictures, but my camera kept insisting that it had a low battery, despite the fact that I had just replaced the freaking batteries.

We threw Porgie's 4th birthday party today. Things started out good, and I was snapping pictures left and right, but then the images started going white. My friend's husband looked at my camera and declared that I just had it on the wrong setting. He "fixed" it and then the images were just fuzzy. So, I guess we need to buy a new camera. Gah.

Anyways, I thought I would share a few of the pictures that didn't turn out shitty.

The birthday girl! She is so long and lanky. My baby girl doesn't look like a baby anymore...

My fabulous homemade "dragon" cake (Okay, it is really a dinosaur. Shhh...don't tell Porgie)...

Playing in the yard with friends...

Pin the tail on the donkey...

Pizza...

Sadly, this is the last picture I snapped before the camera died completely. No blowing out the candle pictures:( Makes me sad.

Porgie's actual birthday is tomorrow. If it doesn't rain, we plan on going to the beach. We have to enjoy the ocean now before that damn oil spill destroys the entire coast.

Just another snow storm

We had another huge snow storm this weekend. We received 28.5 inches of snow today. Whatever happened to global warming?Although snow can be a pain in the ass sometimes, I love it. It is such a magical feeling when you wake up to find the world white and fluffy and beautiful.

We did it! Yay!

I know you had your doubts, but we managed to hang the fruit plaques...Adorable - right?

We just had the busiest morning EVER. The kids woke up at 7:00. We quickly ate breakfast, and I started some chili in the crock pot. I dressed the kids and myself. We drove to the bank and cashed a few checks. Next, we went to Target to pick up some snacks. Finally, we raced over to Border's for story time. The kids were AWESOME. I am not exaggerating when I say that they were the best behaved kids in the whole store. We drove home, and I started making lunch. While the kids were eating, I made a batch of chocolate chip cookies. Then we read three books, and I put the kids to bed. Phew! I am exhausted! And it is only 1 pm!

I plan on going to the craft store this afternoon. I have a project in the works. Pictures to come soon...

Fuzzy Math

John and I were trying to hang five fruit plaques on the soffit above our cabinets this evening. We measured the space and then divided by five. But then I realized that I actually wanted to hang the plaques four inches in from each side of the wall. At this point John had a plan...

John - "I think we should divide the length in half to figure out where the center fruit should be hung."

Christy - "That is a good idea."

John - "Yeah, we'll cut it in half and then times it by two."

Two sweet babies

After Izzy was born, I was tired and overwhelmed and a little sad. Taking care of a newborn and a 1 year old was hard work! It was emotionally, physically, and mentally draining. To say that I was exhausted was an understatement.

But after I got Izzy on a good sleeping/eating schedule, life instantly improved in my household. Honestly, I LOVE being a mommy. I LOVE having two babies. I LOVE their age difference. I LOVE their little personalities. I am so thankful for my two sweet babies. Without them, I am nothing.

So in case you were wondering - life is good in Cakerwakerville.

"Swimming" adventures

My cousin sent Porgie and Izzy a blow up pool a few weeks ago. Since we are entering another heat wave here in Jersey, I decided to fill the pool with water.

Porgie inspected the water. She was a little unsure about it, so she suggested that Izzy get in the water first.
Izzy said, "This water is too fucking COLD!" Those were his exact words.
Since the water was frigid, he decided to stand for a while.

Dada finally convinced him to sit down.
After she realized that Izzy was fine, Porgie decided to get in the pool too.
My babies played together...
A good time was had by all.

Look at all my cool stuff!

Remember when I told you that I won something? It arrived on Wednesday while I was at the cardiologist with Porgie. Needless to say, I was feeling a little stressed. So, I was overjoyed to see my fabulous present when I got home. I promptly put Porgie down for a nap, and unwrapped my gift.

Isn't is beautiful?

I found toys for Porgie.

I found toys for Izzy.

I found sippy cups for Izzy.

I found snack cups for Porgie.

I even found a little tote bag for Mommy.

The amazing thing is, these pictures only show a few of the things in the baskets. There are just too many things to show! Thank you soooo much Danielle. You have made me one happy mama!
__________

On Friday, I received a package from Eva (BBF). She made Porgie a pillow for her birthday...

And look how closely the color matches Porgie's room. You are fabulous Eva! Thank you!

Clearly, I am blessed by many great blogging buddies.

Party

Porgie's party was very cute. We had a paw print cake...

The icing didn't turn out right, but I assure you that it was delicious.

We had balloons...

Porgie adores balloons. I think she liked the balloons more than her actual presents.

We had party hats...

Porgie decided to wear her hat on her foot. She is cool like that.

The party was cute. I think all of the little guests had a good times. And everyone liked my cake! I was so proud of my baking skills.

We purchased Porgie a few presents for her Birthday. First, we bought her an Elmo table and chair set (and the Tickle Me Elmo sitting in the chair on the left). Too cute...
And a new easel for her beloved cullies...
Saturday was a happy day for my sweet baby girl. And if she is happy, I am happy.

Two isn't so terrible

My baby girl turned two years old today. It is a beautiful thing, my dear internet friends. Without a doubt, her birth was one of the best things to EVER happen to me. I love her to pieces.

Porgie has such a fun little personality. She says, "let's go," whenever anyone walks near a pair of shoes. She says, "I love you," periodically - it melts my heart every time. When it is time for bed, she walks around the house saying, "bye bye," to all of her toys.
Porgie has a vivid imagination. She will scribble on a sheet of paper and declare that it is a "butterfly" or a "turtle." She often acts like she is eating cookies, and will even offer mama & dada a bite of her imaginary cookies.
Porgie loves baby Izzy. She will always give him hugs and kisses, but she often tries to share her sippy cup with him too. A few days ago, I found her trying to feed him her baby doll's bottle. My head exploded from all the cuteness.

My baby girl is two.
