The 5 stages of skunk

  1. Denial:
    • "My house smells fine. I don't smell anything. Do you smell anything?"
  2. Anger:
    • "Why did you let that fucking dog into our house? You are the stupidest human being I have ever met."
  3. Bargaining:
    • "I'll do anything to make this smell go away. I am ordering new carpet tonight, and we can go shopping for new furniture this weekend. What do you mean, we don't have any money? I will sell my soul to get rid of this pungent smell."
  4. Depression:
    • "My house is going to stink forever . . . What's the point of cleaning?"
  5. Acceptance:
    • "Skunk doesn't smell that bad - right?"

  2. I can only imagine what the hell skunk funk smells like. I would f'n die!!!!!! My dipshit husband left shrimp heads and peels in the flippin trash can for two days and when I came home today my house smelled rancid. Sometimes I wonder if there is anything in that skull of his, lol. I really hope you can get that smell out of your carpet and furniture.

  10. I think I am used to the lingering dead squirrel smell in my room. I'm sure you'll have the same luck.

  11. Glade candles (5 or 6 on every table.) Febreze. Bathe the dog daily. open windows. Fry fish.

Have you called Stanley Steamer yet? I wonder if a professional steam cleaning would get the stench out.

  12. hey...at least you've reached the acceptance part of the skunk smelling stages.
i've heard, though, that you can periodically retreat and go back through stages again...
    so warn your husband.

  13. Maybe hubby should get a second job or work OT to get money for new carpet and furniture? Maybe you can call a specialty cleaning company and they'll either have ideas for you or they can clean the smell out for you. I mean, if there are companies who clean after a murder scene, skunk should be no problem.
