In which I complain, but try to be grateful

Just to ease your minds, we all made it through the hurricane.  We live almost an hour from the ocean, and for that I am VERY thankful.  In our area, there was lots of rain and strong winds, but we didn't even lose our electricity.  We are lucky people.

Life has been busy over here.  We were thinking about selling our house.  Now, I am not so sure.  We had a realtor come over and tell us how much he thinks our house is worth in the current market.  He basically wants us to give our house away.  The number he suggested was so low that I almost kicked him out of my house on the spot.  By the time the guy left, I hated him.  Of course, it isn't his fault that the market sucks.  But I wanted him out of my house anyways.

The whole thing makes me feel hopeless.  We are going to be stuck in this tiny house forever.

But then I remember that I have three healthy children and a roof over my head.  I need to be thankful for all that I have, without whining constantly about wanting more.  If we can't move, we'll just have to make the most of what we have.  Now I just need to stop looking at houses on the internet, because it is depressing me.

How have you been?

Worried sick about you guys, ok it probably does not help with the quakes that hit our area and the fact a fire took my step kids house 8 days ago, I was worried for you guys but sooo glad you are OK! Now off on a daytrip to the south island.

What a bummer. I am sure he was just trying to be straight with you. We took a huge loss when we sold our house, as you know. In the end we were just happy to be done with it, though.

Glad you didn't get hid hard by Sandy. My mother in North Jersey made out pretty good but had no power for three days. We bought our house two years ago and I thought we bought at the very bottom. It's value still dropped and I have major buyer's remorse for a number of reasons, but like you, I try to be grateful for the roof over our heads and my sweet, healthy family.

Ugh. We are in the same situation... it sucks. We can't get a home equity loan because we haven't paid off enough of our debt. But we also can't improve our house w/o getting the loan. It feels like a hopeless cycle. Glad to hear you are doing well since the storm. We have to be thankful for what we have!
